1st meeting is called yesterday and leaders who attended the meeting are:

chief scout commissioner
asst chief commissioner for training and program
chief executive secretary

state commissioner from selangor, melaka, johor & sarawak

asst state commissoner
and last but not least, the small potato (myself)

is a good starts for the preparation for next wsj and we will wait for more information to be circulate to the state after the APR conference.

1st contingent briefing

next week will have the 1st contingent briefing in sweden.

Head of Contingent Visit next month

as stated on the official page, the head of contingent visit will be next month. unfortunately, we have no news on who will be leading the contingent and who is temporary looking after this matter in terms of organising it or prepared the contingent.

therefore, i am not sure we will have any further information on the campsite and also the progress update from the jamboree committee soon or not.

however, i might be making a trip to sweden, finland, norway, denmark, poland, chech republic. the target plan of 2011 to have a survey and make connection with the scout association for the preparation work. ( i must make it clear, this is our group plan and not the national HQ travelling plan).

i hope my trip will be materialise in september this year if not will be in next february (winter, i bet i will not choose this month).

Head of Contingent Visit

The first Heads of Contingent Visit will take place in August 2009. This visit is for Heads of Contingents and members of National Contingent Management Teams. Sessions will include presentations about the Jamboree preparations, question and answer sessions with the Jamboree Planning Team and a site visit.

The details have been sent in Operational Circular 1, and can be found in the Contingents area of this website. There will be two other HoC visits in 2010 and early 2011.

If your country has not yet registered your Head of Contingent with the Jamboree Office, please do so as soon as possible.

interesting i saw my friend got a swedish name thru facebook.

well, since i am talking about going to sweden for 2011 world scout jamboree. i better get a swedish name.

after typing in my first name and last name, the name generator came out with the following :

hello all,

i know is already 2009 and yet nothing is being updated yet. well.... something beyond my control and i am not make an excuse for this......

i am still around and working to get the things start up but i am still waiting for some formal issue to be settle. once i have something solid, i will sure make some posting here.

don't worry, i am still around for this wsj, and those who mentioned going to sweden for the world scout jamboree still very keen on going and i have not hear them saying they are not going despite the economy down turn.

well, lets cross our finger and have a better year ahead of us.

The scout leader should BELIEVE in the ideas of the jamboree...he/she should BELIEVE that a World Scout Jamboree holds plenty of educational and experiential lessons for the scouts which is beneficial for the growth of the scout in terms of training ?

What does this mean ?

In simple words, you believe that for the amount of money the scout is going to pay, its more than worth it....in terms of education and experience lah!

There are some things scout training can only take so much...i.e. badgework etc etc. Scouts may get bored or even not motivated enough to do the logs and finish tests...

But throw in a jamboree (any jamboree lah..but better if WSJ), and the Scout gets a breath of fresh air and gives new meaning to scouting.

The WSJ widens the scout’s horizons...rather than he/she views scouting on troop/district/state level with usual activities....

Let the scout experience INTERNATIONAL experience. Different cultures. Different activities. A WSJ is a place where a scout is free to mingle with other scouts without fear of prejudice or discrimination.

To successfully promote the 2011WSJ, scout leaders need to take proactive action to promote to their own respective troop scout boys. No amount of publicity or promotion from the national contingent or state/district will be as good as the boys’ own scoutmaster telling them about the 2011WSJ.

What factors make it easier to get boys motivated to go 2011WSJ and work towards it ?

The Scout leader:

a. Went to a WSJ before as a boy

b. Went to a WSJ before as a leader

c. Went to a national jamboree before

d. Has positive experiences from any of the above.

What might be a problem is, not all scout leaders have the chance to do go to a WSJ when they were younger or even go to a WSJ before ! Why ?

a. Not enough publicity/promotion reach them for previous world jamboree

b. Even if enough promotion motivate them, they are not guided on how to plan and go (finances are the most important factor here)

So....the key thing is to get the scout leader motivated about the jamboree! Not necessary to go lah. The scout leader may have commitments with :

a. Work

b. Family
